Have a Water Emergency?
Call our 24-hour Water Response Service at 408-730-7400 to report:
- Water main breaks
- Leaks at the meter - Detect leaks using your water meter
- Low pressure
- No water
- Water quality issues
The City maintains water mains located in the streets. If a leak or other issue occurs in the pipes that connect the water meter to the house, it is the property owner's responsibility to fix it.
How to Shut Off Water at Your Home
If there's an emergency and you need to turn off the water to your home, look for a shutoff valve, typically located at the front of the house near a hose bib.
If you can't find a shutoff valve or it doesn't work, call the City at the number above.
Urban Water Management Plan and Water Shortage Contingency Plan
California law requires that the City review and update its Urban Water Management Plan (UWMP) every five years. A new provision in the law also requires us to update our Water Shortage Contingency Plan (WSCP).
