Home MenuEquity, Access and Inclusion
Sunnyvale takes pride in the incredible diversity of people who form the rich fabric of our city. We embrace our community of many backgrounds and beliefs, and pride ourselves in our openness and acceptance for all.
Our City Values and Public Service statement expresses our commitment to ethical service delivery to meet the needs of all community members regardless of race, religion, ancestry, ethnicity, ability, gender, sexual orientation or gender identity. All City employees are responsible to serve every member of the public with courtesy, respect, professionalism and impartiality. We are a culturally diverse community where all are welcome, safe and acknowledged.
EAI Initiative
In 2021, the Sunnyvale City Council made equity, access and inclusion a new Council priority. The initiative represents Sunnyvale’s commitment to fostering equitable outcomes for all community members where individual and group identities do not pre-determine outcomes.
To guide the initiative, the City formed an internal equity team called the Sunnyvale Employees for Equity and Diversity (SEED). In 2022, The the City Council created a Human Relations Commission.
Sunnyvale Unity
Sunnyvale stands united with community members calling for racial justice and an end to systemic racism. Read the City’s Statement About Racial Injustice. We commit to being transparent and listening to your concerns as we examine our policies and practices. See Sunnyvale Unity.
Public Safety Accountability
You asked us to be transparent. We are sharing information on our policies, practices and programs on Public Safety Accountability.
