Intergovernmental Relations Program
The Intergovernmental Relations Program promotes the interests of the City with local, regional, state and federal government agencies. Areas of focus within this program include:
- Tracking pending legislations and issues
- Advocating or opposing legislation that significantly impacts the City
- Managing Council’s intergovernmental assignments
Council Intergovernmental Relations Assignments
The City Council annually appoints members to a variety of intergovernmental agencies to represent the City’s interests and to influence policies and regulations of other agencies.

Legislative Advocacy Positions
As defined by the General Plan, the Legislative Advocacy Positions are short-term in nature. They typically speak to pending legislation and current issues, and support the General Plan and guide Council and staff on intergovernmental matters.
