If you want to film in the City of Sunnyvale, you must have a film permit.

  • Make sure you have time to apply

    Apply at least 15 days before your planned project dates. This allows time for our review and processing.

    There is no fee for the permit. Fees may apply if you need City services, such as street closures.

  • Make sure you have the required forms

    Don’t worry if you don’t have them to start your permit application. You'll receive an email request for your insurance. It will come from PINS Advantage. You will forward the email to your insurer to submit the forms through PINS.

    Required insurance forms:

    1. Certificate of Insurance showing evidence of a commercial liability policy with limits of not less than $1,000,000 and,
    2. Additional Insured Endorsement (ISO form CG 2010704 or equivalent) naming the City of Sunnyvale, its officers, employees, agents and volunteers

    Owner Consent:

    If you will be filming on private property you will need consent from the owner. Have the owner email their consent to Communications.
