Mayor Larry Klein and the City Council presented the 2023 Sunnyvale Community Awards on Sept. 23 at the annual State of the City event. 

The Community Awards recognize the dedication and hard work of community members across a variety of fields who have made a difference in Sunnyvale.

This awardees for 2023 are:

• Distinguished Resident of the Year – Allison Joe
• Educator of the Year – Edme Hernandez
• High School Student of the Year – Elisabeth Floyd
• Businessperson of the Year – Amal Allan
• Contribution to the Arts – Jennifer Tipton
• Environmental Achievement – Cherryhill Neighborhood Association
• Volunteer of the Year – Sunnyvale Community Services Community Leader Program
• Mayor’s Award of Excellence (Individual) – Kenny Lam
• Mayor’s Award of Excellence (Group) – Duo Duo Project
