You must obtain an operational fire permit for any activity, material or process identified in the California Fire Code Section 105, as amended by the City of Sunnyvale in SMC 16.52, including the following:
- Locations with an occupant load greater than 49 persons
- Nightclub
- Commercial child care center
- Business with high-piled stock (such as, hardware store, warehouse or storage facility)
- Business with hazardous materials (such as, dental office, auto repair garage)
Fire Prevention conducts inspections prior to issuing these permits.
