Next Steps

The following are the project steps:

• Review RFP submissions
• Award design contract
• Gather public input
• Complete project documents
• Get construction bids
• Start construction

Improvements may include:

• Replace athletic fields, bleachers and fencing
• Revamp recreation building
• Build new maintenance facility
• Replace park’s lighting systems with energy efficient fixtures
• Tear down and rebuild ornamental pond and water play features
• Build another restroom near the dog park
• Upgrade the dog park
• Replace portions of landscaped and ornamental grass areas
• Update irrigation and pump system
• Redo park’s fixtures, including benches and tables, with recycled plastic equipment
• Replace portions of drainage systems

There are currently no documents.

Built in 1971, Las Palmas Park is in central Sunnyvale. This 24.3-acres park features palm trees surrounded by a pond. It has a tropical island-themed playground. The park also includes picnic areas, a fenced dog park, athletic fields and a tennis center.

We replaced the two playgrounds in 2014. The tennis center area is being reviewed as a separate project. These facilities are not included as a part of this renovation project.

Our renovation goals are to:

• Beautify and update park amenities
• Enhance recreational usability
• Increase energy efficiency
