PG&E is leading a construction project on Wolfe Road between Homestead Road and El Camino Real. The project will provide safer, more reliable gas and electric utilities. It will also beautify the neighborhood by moving overhead utility lines underground. Once PG&E completes this work the City will repave the roadway.

Construction Notices

Plan for minor delays when driving through the project area. Contractors will post "No Parking" signs at least 72 hours before work begins. They may have to close sidewalks and travel lanes and route traffic around work areas. They will mark all work areas and use traffic flaggers to direct traffic.

Project Details

PG&E began the project – Homestead Road to El Camino Real – in August 2022. They expect to complete it by late spring 2024.

Work includes:

  • Installing new electric power lines and other overhead utilities underground
  • Removing existing overhead lines and equipment
  • Removing the poles
  • Modernizing sections of the natural gas system
  • Upgrading gas meters where necessary

Background

These undergrounding projects are part of the Rule 20A program. Customers fund this program through their electric utility bills. PG&E is the lead agency for the project design and construction.
